Donal was a long-standing continuity announcer on RTÉ Radio 1. He also appeared in-vision and out-of-vision as an announcer on RTÉ One during 1995 and 1996.
Donal died suddenly on 19th December 2011. Colleagues gathered beside Montrose House in the RTÉ campus to plant a tree in memory of Donal on Friday 7th December 2012.
