Ann acquired her first television experience at Rhodesian Television.
In October 1965, she was appointed by Neil Bramson, head of presentation, as the first female announcer at Associated Rediffusion to appear regularly in evening programming since the station’s launch a decade earlier.
During her tenure, Ann also presented weather forecasts, a role that required her to dress according to the following day’s predicted conditions – wearing skimpy swimwear during heatwaves, for instance. She departed the station in 1967.
Ann married city businessman Jeffery Eker, with whom she had three children: Caroline, Charlotte and Jason.
