Terry joined Radio Éireann as an announcer in 1961. He was a presenter and newsreader on RTÉ Television until joining the BBC in 1969.
Fitzgerald, Kieran
Kieran was a continuity announcer on RTÉ One during 1987 and 1988.
He is a former producer, reporter, and researcher with RTÉ, having worked on popular television and radio programmes, including The Late Late Show, Prime Time, and Liveline.
He was named News and Current Affairs Journalist of the Year in 1999, and is a former chair of the Dublin Broadcasting Branch of the National Union of Journalists.
He had served as head of communications and research for the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission from 2007. In December 2011, he was appointed to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
He has a doctorate in governance from the School of Law at Queen’s University Belfast, and is a member of the executive committee of the British and Irish Ombudsman Association.
Connolly, James
James joined the RTÉ Network 2 announcing team in 1998. He also popped up on RTÉ One on a regular basis. James left the announcing role in early 2003.
Stanbridge, Clair
Clair joined RTÉ in 1979. She was a continuity announcer on RTÉ One in the early 1980s.
Woods, Laura
Laura joined RTÉ in March 2000, working as an announcer on both RTÉ TV channels, although primarily on RTÉ Network 2. In autumn 2002, she started into a new presenting role on the newly launched youth strand ID Two on RTÉ Network 2. She later moved into a mainstream presenting role, fronting RTÉ One’s popular lottery game show, Winning Streak.
Buckley, Karina
Karina joined the RTÉ TV announcing team in the late-1990s, working mainly on RTÉ One. She also presents weather forecasts on both RTÉ TV channels.
Slevin, Patricia
Patricia was an RTÉ 2 continuity announcer (1979 – 1987). She also worked as an announcer on RTÉ Radio 1 (1980 – 1984). During her time at RTÉ, she was also an account executive with Bell Advertising.
In 1986, Patricia took on an account director role at DMB&B Advertising & Marketing. She was appointed head of marketing at Bord Iascaigh Mhara in 1989 (head of strategic marketing in Ireland and international markets for Irish seafood). Later jobs include: principal consultant – client services at Penna O’Shea (2000 – March 2015); chair and interview board member, publicjobs.ie (March 2015 – present); lead coach and senior consultant (INTOO UK & Ireland) (November 2017 – present).
Sweeney, Veronica
Veronica was a an RTÉ TV continuity announcer in the early 1970s.
White, Eoin
Eoin was a continuity announcer on RTÉ 2 in the early 1980s, before moving to RTÉ One. He remained in a TV announcing role until the late-1980s/early 1990s. He was also an actor.
Craddock, Gemma
Gemma joined RTÉ as a TV announcer in 2007. She worked mainly on RTÉ One.
Rocca, Michelle
Michelle was an RTÉ 2 announcer (1987 – 1988). She also co-presented the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest from Dublin, with Pat Kenny.
Before joining RTÉ in 1987, Michelle had a successful modelling career. She was named Miss Ireland in 1980 and was a finalist in the Miss International 1981 pageant.
Rocca attended University College Dublin, where she studied Greek and Roman Civilization and Italian and French Archaeology. She is fluent in several languages.
Michelle is now a psychology and motivational teacher.
Curran, Helen
(Formerly Helen Leonard; married in July 2005). Helen has a BA in Irish and Information Technology from UCD. During her university studies she also worked behind-the-scenes on various RTÉ shows including Don’t Feed the Gondolas, The Den and Podge and Rodge.
In 1997, she moved into a continuity announcer role on RTÉ Network 2, presenting many of her links in-vision. Her continuity links are now largely confined to RTÉ One.
In June 2003, Helen joined the station’s team of weather presenters.
Callan, Ronan
Ronan joined RTÉ as a radio continuity announcer in 1977. He became a continuity announcer for RTÉ 2 in the early 1980s. He left the TV announcing role in 1987.
Wilson, Gerry
Gerry is a former RTÉ 2FM DJ. In 1994, he also took on an announcing role for RTÉ One and RTÉ Network 2. He also voiced promotional trails for the TV channels. Gerry gave up the TV announcing post in 1997. In June 2001, Gerry left RTÉ to go full-time with his voiceover business. Over the years, clients have included: Intel, Microsoft, The Times Newspaper UK, Polygram, EMI, Universal Music, Virgin Music, BBC, LiveIreland.Com, The National Lottery, City Jet, The Mirror, Falcon Holidays, Wrangler, Heinz, Aer Lingus, Esat, The Economist, British Midland, Skoda, CMS, Gaiety Theatre and Blockbuster.
Lowe, Mary
Mary joined the RTÉ Network 2 announcing team in the early 1990s. She was also soon covering junctions on RTÉ One. She left her announcing role c. 2003. Mary is the younger sister of Teresa Lowe, who was also an RTÉ TV announcer.
Carey, Nuala
Nuala joined RTÉ in 1999 as a full-time RTÉ weather presenter. She also regularly presents the National Lottery’s Telly Bingo and Lotto draws. Nuala also acts as a relief continuity announcer on RTÉ One and RTÉ 2.
