Kerrie grew up in the Peak District. She graduated in cultural studies, media, film and communication from Sheffield Hallam University in 1998.
In May 2000, she joined Granada Media Group as a continuity announcer, based at Yorkshire TV in Leeds. Her continuity links were heard on Yorkshire TV, Granada TV, Border TV and Tyne Tees TV until 28th October 2002.
That date marked the end of regional continuity on ITV in England. And at this point Kerrie moved to weather presenting, appearing across ITV 1 Border, ITV 1 Granada, ITV 1 Yorkshire and ITV 1 Tyne Tees (October 2002 – February 2009).
She was a regular promotional voice for the Wellbeing Channel and was also heard occasionally on regional promotions made in Leeds.
In February 2009, she went freelance and continued to present the weather for ITV’s northern England regions, including ITV 1 Granada.
During this period, she occasionally covered forecasts for other ITV regions, including ITV 1 Central, ITV 1 West Country and ITV 1 Wales.
Kerrie appeared once as the networked weather presenter on ITV National Weather on 28th November 2013.
On 1st August 2022, Kerrie rejoined ITV News Calendar, replacing the retired Jon Mitchell as lead weather presenter. She said:
“I am utterly thrilled to be rejoining the team at ITV Calendar on a permanent basis.
“I’ve been watching the programme for as long as I can remember. I’m looking forward to getting to know the ITV Calendar viewers and ensuring they continue to get the very best weather service from the programme.
“Over the past 20 years, I have seen such a rapid change in technology and we now have access to data in a way we could only dream about when I first started. It allows us to deliver a more comprehensive and detailed service, extending to online and social media too.”
Manali Lukha, head of ITV Weather said: “Hard working, meticulous, conscientious, and reliable – there are so many words I could use to describe Kerrie. Her dedication to keep across the evolving weather story and communicate this to our audience is always her priority.”
Kerrie is a Patron of Cavendish Cancer Care.
