Alyson’s broadcasting career began in local radio in 1998. She first presented at Signal FM in Stockport, then The Pulse in Bradford and Lite AM in Manchester.
In 2000, she moved to AA Roadwatch and later Metro Networks (which became Trafficlink), working as a travel news presenter, providing updates for various BBC local radio stations, as well as TalkSport, Classic FM and Virgin Radio.
In 2002, Alyson joined the BBC TV network announcing team, working mainly on BBC Two.
On 8th March 2019, BBC Presentation marked International Women’s Day, with an all-female line-up on continuity duty, including: Alyson on BBC Four and BBC One late; Jenni Crane on BBC One daytime; and Toni Green on BBC Two daytime.
On Sunday 11th July 2021, Alyson was on evening BBC One duty and introduced the 2020 Euro Final – England v Italy – at Wembley. She namechecked when handing over to the BBC News channel.

“I’ve been a BBC One and BBC Two network announcer since 2002, and for the last year I have also being announcing on BBC Four alongside Beccy Wright and more recently Kate Walsh.
“My career highlight so far, was in March this year (26th March 2017) when my youngest daughter, six-year-old Veronica, helped out on BBC One for Mother’s Day.”
