Correspondence
Paul R. Jackson corresponded with Kate in June 2018 and asked about her career:
“I’ve been a voiceover for over 20 years and highlights include being the ‘fight noises’ for Mother Russia in Kick Ass 2 (another lady did her speaking – not the actual actress in vision) and of course reading the Shipping Forecast a few times in my brief stint as a Radio 4 announcer.
“Other than that, being a fat duck; a British Gas blue flame was fun too!
“Acting-wise, I have done a number of things from being Baptista in Taming of the Shrew, to being a startled mum in a Coldplay video.
“As you’ll see from my showreel resume, I’ve done loads of stuff from audio books for the RNIB to corporate jobs. I was also a lead singer, and highlights there include being the vocalist for a Gilbert and George exhibition.
“Obviously being here at the BBC is brilliant, and it means my mum gets to be proud every time she hears me. I must say I feel very privileged to be able to do something I genuinely love and care about. I am also very proud to be a voice on three BBC channels: BBC One, BBC Two and BBC Four.
“I started here at the BBC last May with my first training shift on 20th February 2017 and did a few shifts for Radio 4 from the end of 2016 to early 2017.”
