Marian started her broadcasting career at the age of 22, on a pirate radio station in Galway. She later joined RTÉ Radio 2 when it launched in 1979. Marian moved to Toronto, Canada in 1980 where she worked for the Ontario Lung Association.
She came back to Ireland in 1988 and in autumn 1991 returned to RTÉ as a continuity announcer on RTÉ One, with the occasional stint on RTÉ Network 2. She remained with the station until autumn 1999.
In January 2004, Marian launched a new career as a training facilitator/educator, developing and facilitating a range of personal development educational courses, delivered across a wide range of sectors including education and community. She continued this work until December 2009.
From June 2006, Marian has been practicing as a clinical hypnotherapist/psychotherapist. She’s a member of the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, including the National Hypnotherapist/Psychotherapist Register. She’s a licenced EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner and a member of the Association for Meridian Energy Therapies. She’s also a Theta Healing Practitioner.
In January 2009, she returned to radio broadcasting at Classic Hits 4FM, presenting and co-producing Smooth & Easy, which was designed as the ultimate comfort zone for listeners to seek out for three hours at the end of the weekday. It included an eclectic mix of rock, soul, jazz, blues and pop. She remained with the station until December 2011.
In October 2012, more broadcasting work – this time at Dublin City FM, where she was producer and presenter of The Feelgood Factor, a thirty-minute health programme. The objective of the show was to assist people to learn how to cope with life’s disturbances, moving towards a calmer, more empowered existence. It included interviews with medical doctors,, psychologists, dieticians, counsellors, as well as the latest health news.
Since November 2018, Marian has been presenting a Saturday morning show on RTE Gold.
