Correspondence
Paul R. Jackson corresponded with Louise in October 2024.
How did you get to be selected as one of the new BBC Three announcers?
“I was selected to be one of the new announcers via a casting directors’ callout on Twitter at the time. They didn’t say what it was for, but they were looking for young people who had a regional voice and a voice reel.
“Luckily I had recently had one made and the rest is history!
“Off the top of my head – the only other announcer that started when I did was Ian Kay!”
Do you have the date of your first BBC Three announcement? Were they all prerecorded? Were all the announcements done at Red Bed Media Centre in White City?
“Unfortunately, I don’t know the date of my first BBC Three announcement! Though I believe it would have been around March 2022.
“And yes, they were all prerecorded and were done from Red Bee Media Centre in White City.”
I first heard you on BBC One on 18th January 2024. Am I correct in saying that was your first shift? Who trained you and when did you go solo?
“Yes! 18th January would have been my first BBC One shift.
“I actually only had a couple of hours shadowing Jenni on that day and was left to my own devices from around 10am/11am onwards!”
Have you done any shifts in Salford yet?
“I’ve not done any shifts in Salford yet – though I did pop in one day last year when I was on the UK tour of Zog! Live and had a little refresh with Christie (Reynolds) when she was on shift!”
Any mishaps or memorable events/programmes that you have introduced?
“Memorable events that I have introduced would probably be the minutes silence for The Queen’s death for BBC Three, in September 2022.”
On average, as one of the freelancers, how many shifts do you normally get per month?
“Freelancer shifts per month completely vary – as we are freelance!”
