Brian was born in Kingston-upon-Thames. His stage career began at the age of 14 in Peter Pan.
His formal style became a mainstay of Southern Television’s announcing team from its inception in 1958 until its demise.
Brian was on duty during the final days’ broadcasting – 31st December 1981.
When TVS took over the franchise in January 1982, Brian was one of the few to survive a cull of announcers.
He remained a regular face at the TVS continuity desk until the station dispensed with in-vision announcing in August 1987.

- Starr and Company (1958);
- Dr Derek Bailey in Emergency Ward 10 (1960 – 1961);
- Dr Derek Bailey in Oxbridge 2000 (1961);
- Ghost Squad (1963);
- Announcer in Rogue’s Rock (1975 – 1976).
Film credits include:
- Henry V (1944);
- Badger’s Green (1949);
- The Dam Busters (1955);
- Richard III (1955);
- The Marked One (1963).
He was married to TV director Pat Phillips.
He died aged 73, in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
