Carrie was born in Welwyn Garden City. She began her broadcasting career spending a year as a newsreader/producer on Heart FM (from June 1995). She then joined LBC’s News Direct, London’s first 24-hour news station, as a news and showbusiness presenter/reporter/producer (June 1996 – June 1998).
Carrie presented evening bulletins on 5 News (Channel 5, June 1997 – June 1998), before moving to Sky Sports News as a presenter (June 1998 – May 2002). She also presented various programmes including live football games and Davis Cup tennis.
Carrie then switched to ITV, where she had a presenting role on live football coverage, as well as being one of the main sports presenters for ITV Central (June 2002 – June 2003).
She moved to the BBC, to a sports presenter role for BBC News 24 and BBC World (June 2003 – June 2004), while also working as a freelance sports and news presenter for ITV’s London Tonight.
In June 2004, she took up a role as one of the anchors on the ITV News Channel and remained there until the closure of the channel in December 2005.
Carrie left broadcasting and moved to Barcelona (2006), where she was head of marketing and international PR for Lucas Fox (2010 – 2016). She was founder and director of MumAbroad, a website for English-speaking expats/families living in, relocating to or holidaying in Spain, France, Germany and Italy (2008 – 2017).
In January 2017, Carrie founded FiG Communications, a Barcelona-based communications agency. She is the company director.
In 2021, Carrie edited and contributed to her first book Living the Dream, which she hoped would give a platform to women facing major challenges whilst living away from their native ‘home’.

Anything you’d like to add about your career?
“Wow! How impressive indeed! You know more about me than me. I would just say that when I worked at SSN, I also worked at Sky News as a sports presenter. Re transition to C5 – News Direct was owned by ITN which then owned Channel 5 News and they originally were looking for weather presenters (I was awful) but I found my niche in news presenting at the same time Kirsty Young started. From there, I was head hunted for SSN.”
Was it an easy decision to leave TV broadcasting?
“As well as running FiG, I present my own radio show on Radio Kanal Barcelona on Friday’s and work as a voiceover and create corporate videos for international companies based in Barcelona.
“I have always had a love affair with Spain so when ITV Digital closed down and my contract was paid off it was my chance to spend some time there – but never came back!
“I got married and had kids here, but yes, I do at times miss the thrill of (mainly live) TV and I wouldn’t dismiss the chance of working in TV again some day. We’ll see.”
